This New Diet Is Based on Your Skin Type—and Will Have You Glowing in Under a Week

“I have a lot of love for New York,” says model-turned-nutritionist, Rosemary Ferguson, who left Manhattan, where she had bunked with fellow fashion wunderkinds David Sims and Guido Palau, for the Cotswolds decades ago. This month, however, she returns to her former stomping grounds—now at celebrity facialist Teresa Tarmey’s new Duane Street skin-care clinic where the British duo will be offering a two-pronged approach to perfecting complexions. “Teresa’s always been very keen on treating the outside of skin, as well as the inside, which is the bit I do,” Ferguson explains of the origins of their new holistic program, Inside Out.

Not ones for cutting corners, the five-day plan begins with an hour-long consultation that seeks to address clients’ complexion issues, from blotchiness to rosacea and acne. During the assessment, which includes time on Tarmey’s bed, the facialist prescribes a combination of rejuvenating products and red-carpet-ready treatments that have made her the go-to among the likes of Kate Moss and Sienna Miller.

Meanwhile, Ferguson examines a client’s diet, health concerns, and stress levels to devise a plan to “get the gut calm,” she says, “so it can break down food and absorb nutrients properly” and stop causing unwanted flareups. Clients can also opt into Ferguson’s week-long meal delivery program: a “skin-specific menu” of breakfasts, mid-morning shakes, lunches, and dinners that are whipped up every day and delivered nightly. Think: anti-inflammatory buckwheat toast smeared with almond butter and pomegranate; turmeric-roasted fennel, chickpea, and kale salad; and fibre-rich slow-cooked chicken curry. What’s off the menu? Wheat, gluten, dairy, sugar, alcohol, and coffee, as well as nightshades such as tomatoes, white potatoes, and aubergines, since they can cause inflammation. “This is really just good food that will make you feel [and look] amazing. It’s healthy but it’s not too extreme,” she says. Tarmey, who’s been a client of Ferguson’s for half a decade, is quick to agree: “She doesn’t give you advice that’s not sustainable.”

After following the individually-prescribed protocol, each client can expect to see glowing skin, increased energy and clarity, and better sleep, says Ferguson. “You’ll feel fresh by Friday. And you do lose a few pounds, which makes everyone feel quite jolly,” she adds with a laugh. Consider it the perfect party trick for entering the holiday season. And should you not find yourself on this side of the pond, the program will be touching down in London, too—just in time for the New Year.
